This was for the cover of a magazine on the topic of biometrics. (You know, the technique to check your identity on the basis of your body specs)
I photographed my wive's eye and of course did a lot of work in Photoshop making it perfectly round, pasting eyewhite and removing all the reflections before pasting it onto a more-or-less eye-shaped form into which I had carefully pulled a shape that was halfway between a head and a pupil. HDRI and an omni for lighting.
I agree that this isn't the most stunning of 3D-techniques but it served the purpose very well. The art director wanted a big eye basically. I proposed the head-shaped pupil and he liked that idea. Tell me what you think.
